A powerful yet refined Lagrein from Alto Adige with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, dark plum and subtle spice. The combination of stony limestone soils and cool alpine influence gives the wine tension, elegance and remarkable freshness. Eighteen months of ageing in tonneaux adds depth and velvety tannins without overshadowing the purity of the grape. Bottled untreated and unfiltered, this Riserva preserves its authentic texture and concentration. A beautiful match for game dishes, roast beef and aged cheeses, while equally impressive as a contemplative evening wine.

Bergmannhof - Karl Lagrein Riserva – 2023

Karl Lagrein Riserva is Bergmannhof’s tribute to grandfather Karl and at the same time a remarkably precise interpretation of Alto Adige Lagrein. In the hills around St. Pauls/Eppan, the grape benefits from warm sunny days and cooling alpine air descending from the Dolomites, naturally combining concentration with freshness. The stony clay and limestone-gravel soils contribute structure and mineral tension, while the extended ageing brings refinement and depth.

While Lagrein can sometimes lean towards sheer power, Bergmannhof focuses here on balance and elegance. The wine retains its dark fruit intensity and characterful depth, yet remains lifted by freshness, subtle spice and restrained oak influence. The result is a distinctly South Tyrolean mountain wine with clarity, precision and layered complexity.
